Stretch your child's mind this summer with these fun summer camps and youth programs geared toward educational and academic pursuits, including reading, writing and Math designed to improve skills and increase self-confidence.
During the Summer Camp at Five Star Tutors children will learn to read, write and do math while having FUN. This is summer after all. So we will use the combination of games, prizes and competitions to make each day fun and fulfilling.

Specializing in phonemic awareness, reading, fluency, comprehension, spelling, writing, attention difficulties, math, vocabulary, following directions, expression, handwriting, test-taking, organizational, study, and social skills.
If you have concerns your child might lose reading momentum over summer this camp is for you. Five Star Tutor’s Reading and Math Camps fill the gaps in a busy summer, giving your child enough reading exercise in two or more weeks to maintain the skills built in the prior school year.
The gap between good and reluctant readers grows as children progress through the grades. Studies show that the main source of this gap is not the school year but rather the summer: over summer good readers read, reluctant readers do not. Don’t let your child lose ground this summer.
For returning Five Star Tutors students, the camp represents an opportunity to take on the next Reading program in the series from where you left off. Or you could use the camp to brush up on spelling, math facts or other remaining issues that still need work.
We use The Key Steps to Reading & Math Success aligned with the Alberta curriculum, customized to your child’s needs, to help prevent summer slippage, in an adaptive and fun format. Our camps will have math facts, spelling & writing exercises also, as requested as part of an individualized program for each child.
Children work on range of programs customized to his or her needs, drawing from a range of math and reading exercises, and team games.
Camp Key Facts
- Supervised by certified teachers and tutors
- 1.5 hours a day, five days a week, mornings and afternoons, Tuscany, Royal Oak and Killarney centers.
- Camps starts July 6, ends August 28.
- Runs in two week sessions.

The camp aims to be engaging and educational; using compelling exercises customized to each child’s reading level and needs.
